1. Introduction

The check Check availability of a Spot Color allows you to verify whether the desired Spot Colors are present in the Print Item. In addition to entering a specific Spot Color name, Regular Expressions (RegEx) can also be used to check for Spot Color names.

2. General

The check Check availability of a Spot Color is available in Automation when creating a Production Configuration. This check is offered in the following Operations:

  • Check Print Item and Apply Fixups – this Operation checks the Print Item and determines which Fixup or Action should be applied if the checked value is present or absent.
  • Check Print Item and Apply Fixup Chain – this Operation checks the Print Item and determines which Fixup Chain or Action should be applied if the checked value is present or absent.
  • Check Print Item and forward to – this Operation checks the Print Item and determines to which Production Configuration or Action the Print Item should be forwarded if the checked value is present or absent.

Production Configurations are used in the Workflow in the following situations:

  • Creating Automation Jobs – apply Production Configurations to selected Articles or Print Items.
  • Batch Processing – apply the selected Production Configuration to the print data to be processed.
  • Hotfolder – apply the selected Production Configuration to the print data in a Hotfolder.
  • API – apply a Production Configuration to print data that is submitted to the application via the API.

3. Description

The check Check availability of a Spot Color allows you to verify whether the specified Spot Color is present in the Print Item. For example, it can be used to check whether a Technical Spot Color or a White Separation is included in the file. For multipage files, all pages of the Print Item are checked for the availability of the Spot Color.

This check verifies the presence of a Spot Color in the Print Item. To check the availability, the following options can be selected:

  • Templates [1] – the settings selected in the dialog can be saved as a Template and subsequently applied to the Operations Check Print Item and Apply Fixups, Check Print Item and Apply Fixup Chain, as well as Check Print Item and forward to to other Articles or Print Items.
  • Spot Color Name [2] – enter the Spot Color Name to be searched for here, or define the appropriate Regular Expressions (RegEx) to search for multiple Spot Colors. For Variable Content [3], select the desired placeholder – Database field or User-defined Field – from which the value for the Spot Color Name should be retrieved.
