Zunicomm – Error Messages

Error: configurationerror; OffendingCommand: setpagedevice

Zunicomm sent jobFailed message, detail message: [7] %% [Error: configurationerror; OffendingCommand: setpagedevice;Info: SeperationOrder not a subset of SeparationColorNames;File.%console%]%%

Problem Description

This error message can occur when rendering large one-page files (parallel rendering). The cause is still being analyzed by Global Graphics. A Bug Fix is not yet available.

Solution

To solve this problem, proceed as follows:

  1. Stop the ZuniComm Service
  2. Go to C/ProgramFiles/PPD/ZuniComm/ZuniCommConfig.txt
  3. Open the file ZuniCommConfig.txt in Notepad++ as Admin
  4. Add the following parameters to ZuniCommConfig.txt:
render_single_page_separations_parallel = false
  1. Then save the ZuniCommConfig.txt file.
  2. Restart the ZuniComm service.
  3. Try the step again.

Restart after making changes

This change in ZuniCommConfig.txt disables parallel rendering of separations. This may lead to longer rendering times. Note, that once the problematic file has been processed, remove the previously inserted line and restart Zunicomm.

Problem Description

Occurs when processing a hotfolder job when the user uses a multipage PDF with different page sizes in conjunction with TAU printers.

By activating the Process multi-page PDFs option in the Create Hotfolder dialog, DCF separations and no TIFF separations are created.

Figure 1: The Create Hotfolder dialog, in which the option Process multi-page PDFs is activated for the TAU printer.

  4. Open the file ZuniCommConfig.txt. in Notepad++ as Admin
  5. Add the following parameters to ZuniCommConfig.txt:
dcf_diff_threshold_percent = 10
  1. Then save the ZuniCommConfig.txt.

Error: ioerror; OffendingCommand: renderbands

Example

Zunicomm sent jobFailed message, detail message: [2] %%[ Error: ioerror; OffendingCommand: renderbands;

File: %D%PMS_DATA/FileManagement/production_job/7348/858678_959027_19203681_01_1zu10_neu_impose.pdf ]%%

Problem Description

The answer is located in the Zunicomm Logfile located under (D/PMS_DATA/Log/ZuniComm/ZuniComm.log):

08:25:44: Maximum TIFF file size exceeded (3)

Since all Offsets are encoded in a TIFF file with 4 bytes, the maximum file size for TIFF is < 4GB. As soon as the file size is exceeded, images must be saved as BigTIFF.

Solution

BigTiff is selected for the printer used.

Solve the problem by doing the following:

  1. Go to Administration > Printers
  2. Select the Printer that is being used from the Printer list.
  3. Select Edit in the action bar to open the Edit Printer dialog.

Figure1: The Edit Printer dialog found under the menu item Administration > Printer.

  1. Select the Big TIFF Render checkbox and save the change by pressing Save.
  2. You can then render the previously rendered job again without restarting Zunicomm.

Problem Description

This error message occurs with some PDFs. The cause is still unclear. There is a high probability that they are corrupted in some way.

Solution

In many cases the bug can be fixed by downloading the Print Item in Print Item View [1] (Current Version) and uploading the file again [2].

Problem Description

This error message can occur when using large files in the Workflow. This is a bug that has not yet been fixed by Global Graphics.

Solution

Unfortunately no fix exists for this problem. In some cases, however, we succeeded by checking out the existing PDF from the Workflow and checking it in again. Converting the PDF file into an image - via Adobe Photoshop - will solve the problem in most cases.

First a pdfEngine analysis must be performed

Example

Zunicomm sent jobFailed message, detail message: First a pdfEngine analysis must be performed

Problem Description

Solution

The problem can be solved by taking the following steps:

  1. Stop the ZuniComm service.
  2. Go to the directory C/ProgramFiles/PPD/ZuniComm on the Workflow server.
  3. The configuration file ZuniCommConfig.txt is located there.
  4. Open the file ZuniCommConfig.txt in Notepad++ (Start as Admin)
  5. Add following parameters to the ZuniCommConfig.txt:
create_pdf_tool_box_log = true
kfpx_profiles_cache_size = 0
  1. After entering the changes, save the ZuniCommConfig.txt file.
  2. Restart ZuniComm.
  3. Try the previous step, which led to the error, again.

Problem Description

The TIFF file format uses 32-bit offsets, which limits the file size to about 4 GiB. Some implementations use a signed 32-bit offset, which can be problematic even with files as small as 2 GB.

Solution

Activate "Render BIG TIFF" in the printer settings.

PMS WebGui :: Printer Setup

BigTIFF is a TIFF variant that uses 64-bit offsets and supports much larger files.

Not all printers support the BigTIFF format, therefore this option is deactivated by default in the Workflow.

Error: color names do not match for channel 4!

Example:

Error while executing task: [servicetask1] of workflow, error message: [Zunicomm job failed with error message [Zunicomm sent jobFailed message, detail message: Color Names do not match for channel 4! Render Parameter. XX; Name in ICC Profile: XX; Profiles: X/PMS_DATA/FileManagement/color_profile/XXXXX_IL_XX.icc].] (exception class: com.prepressdigital.pms.exception.PmsRuntimeException)

Solution:

To correct this error, please locate the Color Setup that causes the error. Then locate the Ink Limit step in that Profile (in the error message the offending color profile step is designated with IL in the name) and recalculate the Ink Limit and the error should no longer appear.
