In this article, you will learn
- what is meant by Quick Print and
- which advantages it offers.
1. Introduction
Quick Print is used to create a Production Job quickly and easily. A Production Job is always generated, and it can be sent directly to the printer if required. The focus is on importing print data into the system quickly and in an organized manner, without the need for extensive settings or additional steps.
Additional information, such as Job Name, Ext. ID, or Comments, can be provided for the print data. These details complement the Production Job but do not alter the core process. Quick Print is therefore ideal for creating Production Jobs quickly and printing them immediately when needed. It offers a simple way to initiate standardized print jobs without detours, with the entire process optimized for efficiency and speed.
The operation is intentionally kept simple. After selecting the Print items and optionally entering the additional information, the Production Job is created automatically. It can then be sent directly to the printer if desired. The status of the process used to create the Production Job can be monitored in the system at any time, making it easy to track progress.
2. Using Quick Print
As the basis for Quick Print, an automatically generated Production Configuration – consisting of at least Create Production Job and Create Impose – is used. Quick Print is particularly suitable when a Production Job needs to be created without extensive configuration. It streamlines the process and enables fast handling of your daily Print Jobs.
Keep the following background information in mind:
- A Production Job is always created.
- If desired, the Production Job can be sent directly to the printer.
- The print data is always checked and normalized based on the selected Check-in Preflight and Fixup Template.
- Multipage print data can be automatically split, depending on the selected system settings.
- Additional Information for the Print Item can optionally be added, such as an Ext. ID or a Comment.
- When creating a Production Job, an Impose can also be generated automatically as an option.
- In the case of Shape Nesting, print data is automatically prepared for the generation of the Impose based on the system-defined Technical Spot Color.
- The progress of the process can be viewed in the system at any time.
The following advantages result from this:
- Fast Processing – jobs can be printed immediately after upload.
- Standardized Configuration – settings for the Production Job and the Impose are automatically applied from the selected Template.
- Centralized Management – multiple files can be uploaded simultaneously and managed in a single overview.
- Automatic Naming – placeholders in the file name (e.g.,
$for the Print Item name,#for sequential numbering) enable consistent naming. In addition, metadata can be extracted from the file name. - Error Reduction – automated parameter handling reduces the likelihood of manual input errors.
- Easy Repetition – jobs that have already been executed can be restarted with the same settings.
