Once you have decided on a Marker type, the selected Mark is generated based on default parameters. You can access all respective parameters available for each Mark and make  adjustments as necessary.

The following example uses both the Rectangle Mark and Crop Marks, as these represent the essential settings generally found when using Marks. Please note that all parameters listed below may not be available for each Mark, as certain parameters simply are not needed for specific Marks in specific contexts.

The following parameters are available for Marks:

• Origin [1]: Select the origin to which the marker should be set. This option is available in all other Montage Modes except Tiling. Select from the following options:
  • Per Print Item – Marks are applied to each Print Item individually (available in Manual, Step & Repeat and Nesting Modes).
  • Per Row – Marks are applied to each defined row of Print Items (available only in Step & Repeat) If this option is selected, the options Start with Row and Repeat can be used to determine for which row(s) the Mark should be created.
    • Start with Row [3] – Here the user can define which row of Print Items the Marks should be applied to.
    • Repeat [13] – This option defines the repetition of the Marks based on the defined Start with Row number.
  • Print Items – The Mark is applied to an invisible rectangle that surrounds the grouped Print Items. (available in Manual, Step & Repeat and Nesting Modes).
  • Artboard – The Mark is applied and aligned to the Artboard. (available in Manual, Step & Repeat and Nesting Modes).
• Reference Point [12]: Select the reference points for which the Marks should be set. In most cases, all nine positions -top-left, top-center, top-right, center-left, center-middle, center-right, bottom-left, bottom-center and bottom-right are available.
• Position [2]: Use this to select the position (the start value for positioning the X and Y offset of the Mark). Depending on the Mark, the default settings define which start value is used for the Mark. For further information, please refer to the article Available Marks.
  Depending on the selected Impose Mode, the following Positions are available.
  • ImageBox – Marks are set to the End Format (trimmed size). (available in Manual, Step & Repeat, Nesting and Tiling).
  • ImageBox + Bleed –Manual, Step & Repeat, Nesting and Tiling).
  • Overlap –  Marks are set to the End Format of the tile size plus the defined Overlap Area (only available in Tiling).
  • Printed overlap – Marks are set to the End Format of the tile size plus the defined Printed Overlap (only available in Tiling).
• Line Weight [4]: Define the weight of the lines contained in the Mark.  Weights are always defined using the pt unit.
• Width and Height [5]: Define the dimension of the Mark by entering the height and width. The lock symbol is unlocked by default for the Rectangle Mark, as the size of the rectangle can have various dimensions. For other Marks the lock symbol is locked by default, as the dimensions of a Mark are typically scaled proportionally. However, you can also unlock the lock symbol and create unproportional Marks.
• X and Y Offset [6]: Use this to define the X and Y Offset relative to the selected position of the Mark. Here, too, non-proportional offsets can be applied by unlocking the lock symbol.
• Overprint [7]: Use this setting to determine whether the Mark is overprinted or set to knockout in relation to the background. For example, if a magenta Mark is positioned on a dark background and overprinted, the Mark may not be recognized when printed out. Therefore, Marks should normally be set to knockout, this checkbox should not be activated in other words.
• Stroke [8]: Use this checkbox to define the color value of the Mark Stroke. This parameter is not available for Marks that do not contain contours.
• Color Values: Use this parameter to define the color values for both the Stroke and the Fill. There are four options are available:
  • CMYK Color Values [17] – The color value can be set by entering CMYK values.
  • System-wide Spot Colors [14] – The color value can be set to a system-wide defined Spot Color in the Workflow. By default the system-wide defined Spot Color
  • SVG Values – The color value is determined by the color value defined in the SVG file.
  • None [9] – No color will be applied to the selected Mark.
• Add White Background [11]: Use this option to add a white contour of a desired thickness. This increases visibility for example when a black Mark is printed on a dark background. This option should be activated by default for Marks that are placed outside the End Format.
• Color: Allows you to specify the color of the marker in CYMK. The default color of a marker is black.
• Intermediate Marks [15]: This option allows you to place Marks between each Print Item, even though there is not enough space to position the Mark. This option is only available for Crop Marks, which are automatically shortened according to the amount of space available.
• Filled [18]: By activating this checkbox (only available for Crop Marks), will fill the Mark with the color selected. If the checkbox is deactivated, the Mark is created as a hollow rectangle (see the illustration below).

Adding Marks to the Imposition can only be accomplished using the Sheet Configuration dialog. The Marks are then aligned according to the dimensions of the Sheet Size.

Since neither the Origin [1] nor the Position [2] can be selected for these Marks, these two options are not available in this dialog. All other parameters can be found here, depending on the Mark selected. Parameters are handled in the same way as described above.
