2.1 Overview

Manual mode should be used to add print objects of different sizes to the Artboard, place them along the X and Y axis, and can also include different Marks.

Manual Impose mode [3] under the Production Job menu [1] under the Impose sub-tab [2].

Manual Mode areas

In the Impose editor, you can see the following sub-areas:

Header [4] orange – Sheet Configuration settings, Impose mode switch, saving or canceling Imposition

Rulers [5] blue – horizontal and vertical rulers. The coordinate origin point is in the upper left corner, the display is in the unit of measurement defined under Administration > Settings > General > Unit (point, millimetre, centimetre or inch).

Main Area [6] green – shows the drawing area(s) as a grey rectangle on a white mounting background. This is where the Imposition takes place.

Settings tab [7] magenta – the three tabs are described below.

Footer [8] red – provides information such as number of print items, printed area, etc.

1. Artboard Settings Tab

The Manual Impose Artboard settings can be manipulated by leveraging the following options:

  • Transform [9]: The Transform tab contains the following settings:
    • X and Y Axis [10]: Here you can enter X and Y axis values in mm for precise placement.
    • Anchor Point [11]: The user can select 9 different reference points which are used for the Rotate and Scale functions.
    • Width and Height [12]: In these input fields you can enter the Width and Height in mm.
    • X & Y Scale [13]: Changes in the percentage value in this input field scales objects along the X or Y axis.
    • Rotation [14]: Using the two icons, you can rotate the print object either (a) counterclockwise or (b) clockwise.
    • Rotation as Group [15]: When the Rotate as Group box is checked, all objects placed on the Artboard will be rotated with one single reference point.
    • Scale [16]: These two options can either Fit the Print item to the Substrate or Fill the Substrate with the Print Item (the edges of the Print Item may overlap the Artboard).
    • Arrange [17]: These two options can either Fit the Print item to the Substrate or Fill the Substrate with the Print Item (the edges of the Print Item may overlap the Artboard).        
  • Alignment [18]: The Alignment panel contains the following settings:
    • Horizontal and Vertical Align [19]: You can select multiple print objects and align them horizontally and vertically left, center, right, top or bottom.
    • Distribute Selection Tool [20]: With this tool you can either align the spacing between objects based on their dimensions (vertically or horizontally) or specify a specific distance between print objects in mm by checking the Use Spacing box.
  • Bleed [21]: With this option you have the possibility to add a Bleed.
  • Margin [22]: A Margin can be added to the Artboard by entering values here.

In the Print Items tab, you can place and replace print objects individually in Manual Mode. Below are the various attributes of the Print Items Tab:

  • Select Print Items outside Sheet size [23]: By clicking this icon, the Workflow will automatically select all Print Items that lie outside the Arboard.
  • Add [24]: When you click Add (+ symbol), the print item is placed on the Artboard. The user can also place single Items using  cmd + click.
  • Copies [25]: Here you can specify the number of copies for individual print items.  
  • Information [26]: Under all print objects you will find information about the final format.

3. Marks Tab

In the Impose Editor, you can add different Marks to individual print items under the Marks tab [27]. In the drop-down menu [28] you can select and add the different types of Marks.

The following Marks are available:

  • Center Mark
  • Center Mark 2
  • Center Mark 3
  • Corner Mark
  • Corner Mark 2
  • Corner Mark 3
  • Crop Marks
  • dashed frame
  • rectangle
  • registration
  • sphere

Marks Chart

Every available Mark has individual settings which are listed below:

  • Width & Height [29]: This input field allows you to specify the width and height of the Mark to be placed in mm.
  • X- & Y-Offset [30]: You can specify the offset of the X and Y axes in mm.
  • White Background [31]: You can add an optional white background to the Mark.
  • Position [32]: The position of Marks can be determined from 1 to 9.
