In this article, you will learn
- which settings need to be configured on the server, and
- which exceptions should be set in the virus scanner.
1. Introduction
After successfully installing the system, a few additional steps are required to make the working environment fully operational. This article explains which configurations and verifications should be performed following the installation.
2. Configure Additional Server Settings
After installation, essential settings need to be configured on the server. These include defining storage paths, setting up automatic server startup, and adjusting other system-relevant options to ensure stable operation.
2.1. Indexing
Unnecessary access to drives can significantly reduce processing speed. To prevent this, indexing of the PMS data directory PMS_DATA should be disabled. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Navigate to the PMS data directory (PMS_DATA) using Windows Explorer and select it (default
C:\PMS_DATA
). - Right-click the PMS_DATA folder to open the context menu and select PMS_DATA Properties.
- In the tab General, click Advanced... [1].
- In the dialog Advanced Attributes that opens, deactivate the option Allow files in this folder to have contents indexed in addition to file properties [2]. Then click OK to close the dialog.

- In the dialog PMS_DATA Properties, click OK again. The dialog Confirm Attribute Changes opens. Select the option Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files [3].
- Click OK once more to complete the process.

2.2. Set Exceptions in the Virus Scanner
To prevent any further interference with system performance on your computer, some directories used by the application should be excluded from the virus scanner. Disable the following directories in the virus scanner:
D:\PMS_DATA\Log
D:\PMS_DATA\FileManagement
D\PMS_DATA\ZuniComm
If necessary, the PMS program directory (default C:\Program Files\PPD
) should also be excluded. This is especially important if your virus scanner detects the program Zunicomm.exe as an "uncertified program".
Adjustment for changed drive name
If you did not create the above-mentioned directories on the D:
drive, you must of course exclude the corresponding adjusted paths from processing in the virus scanner.
