Release – 1.15.0 (Major Version)

In this article you will learn which

  • new features are available,
  • improvements for users have been implemented and
  • which bugs have been fixed in version 1.15.0 of the Workflow.

1. Overview

With version 1.15.0, users can take advantage of several innovations in the environment of Imposition, Verification and Processing of Orders. In addition, improvements have been made in Data Preparation, Data Verification and management of Print Data, as well as further translations were carried out.

Since version 1.15.0 is a major release, you should also read through the Release Notes for the interim versions 1.14.1 and 1.14.2 to learn about the whole scope of new features for major release 1.15.0.

Please find an overview of all changes below. The detailed description follows in the areas of New Features, Improvements as well as Bug Fixes.

Installing an update for a version higher than 1.14.0

The Workflow version 1.14.1, 1.14.2, and 1.15.0 and all future versions can only be installed if the Workflow version 1.14.0.(752) - or higher - has been installed before. Thus an update from an earlier version e.g.: 1.11.x, 1.12.x as well as 1.13.x cannot be carried out! The reason for this was internal migration logic improvements, which were introduced in version 1.14.0.(752). Before this and future updates, make sure that version 1.14.0.(752) - or higher - has already been installed.

An update from Workflow version lower than 1.11.0, to version 1.15.0 and higher, must therefore be done first to version 1.11.0 and only then to 1.14.0.(752)!

The following SDK versions are used in DW 1.15.0:

  • Callas Software pdfToolbox 14.2.612
  • Callas Software pdfChip 2.5.083
  • Color Logic CrossXColor 1.20.4
  • Global Graphics HHR 13.2.2

1.1. New Features

The following New Features are available in version 1.15.0 of the Workflow:

VDP Editor: Since version 1.12.0, the VDP Editor has been available in the Workflow for creating and managing variable data in the Browser. In version 1.15.0, further improvements have been implemented:

  • Guide Lines – As of this version, when a Guide Line is moved, the exact position is displayed in a tooltip.
  • Zoom factor – As of version 1.15.0, the current zoom factor can be selected in the VDP Editor using a drop-down menu. The current zoom level is displayed in the selection menu when zooming with the mouse.

Impose Editor: Existing functions in the Impose Editor have been extended and improved with version 1.15.0. These include improvements in "Nesting" and "Step & Repeat". In addition, the functionality for coloring labels has been expanded and an option for saving a tiling has been added.

  • Step & Repeat for differently sized Print Items – As of this version, Print Items of different sizes can be imposed in the "Step & Repeat" Impose Mode. The restriction in version 1.14.2 that at least one side of all Print Items has the same length is therefore no longer present in this version.
  • Grouping and Sorting – New methods for grouping and sorting placed Print Items have been implemented. Furthermore, line and page breaks can be specified according to certain criteria per group.
  • Colored Stroke for Captions – As of this version, the Stroke of a Font can also be changed in regard to its color. Furthermore, the Line Width of the Stroke can be defined from now on.
  • Saving Options in Tiling – As of version 1.15.0, the Save Tiling dialog offers a new option "Remove objects outside the Page Box", which applies a data correction to remove truncated elements outside the Page Boxes.

Verifications: In version 1.14.0, the "Verifications" area was created in the Workflow, where the user can verify a Color Strategy against FOGRA and G7 standards. In addition, the production run or the print between printing systems can be verified with regard to stability and comparability. Additional features and improvements have been implemented in this version:

  • G7-Full Verification – In this version, the requirements for G7 Verification to verify the entire color space could be implemented.
  • Compare - As of version 1.15.0, a measurement can be saved as a reference and future measurements can be compared against this new reference.

Cut Info: Since version 1.14.1 the new tab "Cut Info" is available for Production Jobs. In this tab, Cut Data of the Production Job is stored or displayed. Each created cut file is listed with some additional information. In addition, individual Cut Jobs can also send information back to the Workflow, which is then subsequently displayed in this tab. Starting from this version, the aggregated information about all cut files is displayed in a separate column. Furthermore, the data returned by the Cutter Device are displayed in a separate area, if they are available.

"White" Handling on different Output Devices: Starting from this version, a new system setting "Convert White to 0/0/0" is available. If this option is activated, then "White" Spot Colors, which are normally output as a separate White Separation, are converted to CMYK 0/0/0/0 when they are transferred to the printer. However, this is only applied if the printer used does not have white ink.

Data Preparation: In the course of development, further Fixups were added or improved. In addition, existing Fixups were extended in functionality or improved with regard to usability and the conversion of Fixups with dynamic fields was further advanced.

SDK versions: Updates from various OEM partners, among others, also provide for further innovations and improvements. Version 1.15.0 includes the Color Logic CrossXColor SDK version 1.20.4.

1.2. Improvements

Check-in Preflight and Fixup Templates: In this version, the creation and saving of Check-in Templates has been revised and extended. Some new options are available in the form of Fixups and Checks, which can be saved in user-defined Check-in Templates. In addition, the possibility has been created to select at all positions in the Workflow which Check-in Template is to be used when uploading a Print Item or Article.

Check results: Starting from this version, information is also displayed during preflight after a Print Item or Article has been uploaded to the Workflow, in addition to Warnings and Errors.

Grid Charts: In version 1.15.0, the standard Grid Charts have also been implemented with a new User Interface. The same functions and operating concepts are thus available for all Grid Charts. Handling with additional Spot Colors such as "White", "Varnish" and "Primer" has also been added in this version and is thus made available for all Grid Charts.

XLM Hotfolder: As of this version, Fixup Chains can be defined in the Hotfolder XML file. This was not implemented or available until version 1.15.0.

RHO/P5 Jobticket: As of version 1.15.0, additional information is written to the LFP Job Ticket, which can be used or displayed by the printer software.

Save Ink authorization: All Durst printing systems are allowed to transfer Production Jobs with Ink Savings to the Printer starting with this version. For Vanguard and third-party printing systems, a separate authorization is required and can be purchased.

Copy and reuse GUIDs: In the settings area Grid Charts, Templates for Data Corrections and Templates of the menu item Administration > Settings, unique GUIDs (Globally Unique Identifier) are already used to define a data set "unique". From this version on, these GUIDs can be copied to the clipboard by means of a button, so that they can be used, for example, for the Rest API or for XML Hotfolders in the future.

Calibration Charts: More calibration charts have been added for the color configuration "CMYK-OGR-k" as well as for "i1Pro3 Plus measuring devices".

Rest API: Several new features have been added, including the ability to control the estimation of cut length and time via the API, the return of the exact size of a design, a new endpoint for custom fields in Production Jobs, and a list to display Fixup Chains.

Small Improvements: Further small improvements have been implemented

1.3. Fixed Bugs

Workflow: List of fixed bugs or minor improvements in the main application.

Impose Editor: List of fixed bugs and minor improvements in the Impose Editor.

VDP Editor: List of fixed bugs or minor improvements in the VDP Editor.

2. New Features

In this section you will learn which new features have been implemented in the VDP Editor, the Impose Editor and the Workflow. In some cases, already existing functions have been extended.

2.1. VDP Editor

Since version 1.12.0 of the Workflow, the VDP Editor for creating Variable Data in the Browser is available. In version 1.15.0, more enhancements that are designed to make it easier to move from Adobe Illustrator to the Browser version have been implemented. Learn more in this section.

2.1.1. Guide Lines

The handling of the intelligent Guide Lines has been further improved in this version. From now on, the line's current position is displayed when moving the handle [1]. Proceed as follows:

  1. Open a Print Item or Article in the VDP Editor.
  2. Create a new Guide Line by clicking in the ruler area.
  3. By moving the Guide Line using the handle [1] the exact position [2] of the guide is displayed

2.1.2. Zoom factor

Since version 1.15.0, the current zoom factor [3] is displayed in the upper right corner of the VDP Editor. In the selection menu, the user can access a list of defined values or enter a desired zoom factor.

2.2. Impose Editor

In the Impose Editor, existing functions have been extended or improved with version 1.15.0. These include improvements in Nesting, Captions and the expansion of functionality in Step & Repeat mode.

2.2.1. Step & Repeat – new functions

With version 1.15.0, the Workflow has to offer some new features for the Step & Repeat Impose mode. Differently sized Print Items can be imposed and the objects can be distributed to a fixed height while maintaining a minimum distance. Furthermore, the rotation of the Print Items can be set for each individual Print Item.

Use differently sized Print Items

Since version 1.14.2 it is possible to impose Print Items of different sizes in the Impose Editor. Up to version 1.15.0, it was only possible to impose Print Items that had the same dimensions or at least a side edge of the same length.

As of this version, it is also possible to impose Print Items with different sizes. Proceed as follows:

  1. Open the Impose Editor.
  2. Switch to the Step & Repeat mode.
  3. Select at least two Print Items or Articles for the Imposition. Make sure that the Articles have different side lengths.
  4. Activate the Adjust [3] option in the Rotate area.

"Adjust" option

In this version, (de)activating the "Adjust" option has no effect on the Step & Repeat result. Starting from version 1.15.1, it will be possible to rotate the Print Items by activating this option so that the best Imposition height and Imposition width can be used to ensure the best possible use of the Substrate.

Distribute vertically for different sizes

If the Print Items have to be distributed according to the height of the Repeat, you must activate the Vertical Auto [6] option. Then, enter the minimum distance in the Vertical (min) [5] input field so that the vertical distance does not fall below this value. The maximum distance which is finally used for the vertical spacing is displayed in the tag [7] below.

When distributing the Print Items per column, it is ensured that half of the vertical spacing is maintained before the first and after the last Print Item, so that the Repeat is repeated correctly on the roll.

Rotating single Print Items

Up to version 1.14.2, the orientation of the Print Item in Step & Repeat could only be determined uniformly for all Print Items in the Rotate area. In version 1.14.2 the Adjust option [4] (Figure 3) was added. Thereby, Print Items with the same side lengths are automatically rotated so that all Print Items have the same height.

In version 1.15.0, the function to determine the rotation for each individual Print Item has been implemented in Step & Repeat. You are already familiar with this function from Nesting. For Step & Repeat proceed as follows:

  1. Create a Step & Repeat Imposition with differently-sized Print Items.
  2. Switch to the Print Item tab.
  3. If the content of the Rotate icon [10] is empty, the selected alignment in the Rotate area will be used by the Step & Repeat settings. The corresponding note is displayed in the tooltip.
  4. If you want to rotate a Print Item by 90°, click the icon once. If you want to rotate the Print Item by 180°, you must click a second time. Which rotation has been selected for the Print Item can be seen from the contents of the rotate symbol. Print Item 1 on the picture below is thus rotated by 180° [9] and Print Item 3 by 270° [11].

Rotation of single Print Items

Please note that the value of the rotation of the individual Print Items is not saved in the Impose template. Only the general orientation is saved, which is the orientation all Print Items should have by default.

Change column order

If you want to change the column order of the Print Items, you just have to change the order of the Print Items in the Print Item tab. Ordering can be done easily by moving a Print Item in the tab.

2.2.2. Grouping and Sorting

In version 1.15.0 the new option Grouping and Sorting has been added to accordingly impose Print Items which should remain together in the Nesting. This is in addition to the existing option of pure sorting.

Up to version 1.15.0, it was possible for users to sort the Print Items in ascending or descending order according to certain criteria. In doing so, the Print Items were placed in a sorted manner. This also filled up the free space on the Imposition with smaller Print Items that did not necessarily fit into the sorting. The goal of substrate-saving Nesting was given in connection with the best possible sorted arrangement of Print Items. As of version 1.15.0, additional Sorting and Grouping options can now be selected for Nesting. Users can thus decide whether only a sorting should be done, or whether Print Items should be grouped together, and on top of that, a Sorting should happen for this group.

To perform user-defined Grouping and Sorting for Nesting, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the Imposition and switch to the Nesting Impose mode.
  2. Create a multi-page Imposition with different Print Items from e.g. different Orders and Order Items.
  3. Switch to the Artboard Settings area tab and select the Settings area.
  4. In Sequence of Placement select the Grouping / Sorting option.
  5. In the Group and Sort dialog, select the first criterion [12] - e.g. Acquisition Date - for the group.

  1. After selecting the sorting criteria, you can expand the area and choose from the following Wrapping Methods:
    • Line Break [13]
    • Page Break [14] 
    • Continuous [17]
  2. Optionally, select another sorting criterion [15] to determine how the placed Print Items are to be sorted and arranged within a group.
  3. Then determine for each sorting criterion whether sorting should be in ascending or descending order [16].

The following figures - Figure 8 to Figure 11 - show how the Wrapping Methods affect Nesting and, above all, the efficiency of the Imposition. Grouping of Print Items is usually always accompanied by lower efficiency in Nesting, but you gain corresponding efficiency in finishing and packaging of printed Print Items.

Standard Nesting

The Print Items are imposed on the Imposition surface in the most space-saving way possible. The arrangement of the Print Items is irrelevant. The goal of substrate efficiency is thus best met.

Page Break

The Print Items of an Order are kept together as far as possible on an Imposition. The Print Items of the next job start on the next Imposition. The Nesting efficiency is probably the worst in this case.

Line Break

The Print Items of the next job are placed on the Imposition surface starting with a new line. The efficiency of the Nesting is somewhat better, but in unfavorable constellations the efficiency can be just as bad as when wrapping to a new Imposition artboard.

Continuous

The Print Items of the individual jobs are held together, and the Print Items of the next job are placed immediately afterwards. This makes it possible to generate probably the best substrate efficiency for Impositions with groupings for Impositions.

2.2.3. Colored Stroke for Captions

With version 1.15.0 it is possible to define the Stroke Color of Captions with the corresponding Line Width in the Impose Editor. This allows you to render a black Caption visible to the user in final production by adding a white Stroke on a black background. Up to version 1.15.0, it was only possible to create a white Stroke for the text. The Width of the Stroke could not be changed.

To create a white Stroke for a Caption proceed as follows:


  1. Open the Impose Editor in the desired mode
  2. Add a Print Item to the Artboard and create any Imposition
  3. Add a Caption to the Imposition
  4. Define the desired content of the Caption
  5. Select the desired Font Size in the Fonts [18] settings panel
  6. In Color Settings, specify the CMYK color values [19] for the Stroke Color
  7. Enter the color values CMYK 0/0/0/0 [20] for a white Stroke.
  8. Specify the desired Line Width [21]
  9. Update the label

Structure of the Stroke

Note that the Stroke is structured starting from the center. The possibility to align the Stroke to the outside will be provided in a future version.

2.2.4. Save Options in Tiling

Until version 1.15.0, when saving a Tiling, vectors and images that were completely outside or partially overlapped the Media Box were automatically removed per Tile. Open paths - e.g. cutting lines - were closed again. In a few cases, this led to problems when processing Tiles, as some objects were removed that should not have been removed.

With version 1.15.0, users can select or deselect the Remove objects outside the Page Box [22] option in the Save dialog. If the activated option should cause problems, it can now be deactivated and saved again. 

In addition, the algorithm for removing unneeded objects has been improved with the following options:

  • Images overlapping the Media Box are cropped as before, keeping a safety margin of 1mm
  • Vectors and images that are completely outside the Media Box are deleted
  • Vectors overlapping the Media Box are cropped and reconnected only if they are Technical Colors.

Processing with Cutter Devices

The option "Remove objects outside the Page Box" should at least be activated if the Production Job is further processed with a Cutter Device or if the Cutter Device requires a Cut file from the Workflow.

2.3. Verifications

With version 1.14.0, the new Verification section has been created in the Color menu item in the Workflow. Here, users can perform Fogra and G7 Verifications as well as Compare measurements of print sheets in the print run or between printing systems.  

This provides the Workflow with the option of verifying printing system and Substrate combinations against international standards in order to obtain the corresponding certification from the official bodies. In addition, quality assurance officers can use this tool to check the stability of printing systems against the company's own standards. This allows appropriate technical steps to be taken in good time to bring the printing system back within the applicable tolerances.

Up to version 1.15.0 available only for beta testers

With version 1.14.0, the entire infrastructure for performing Verifications was developed, just as the first two Fogra verification methods ISO 12647-8 (Validation Print 2021) and ISO 12647-7 (Contract Proof 2016) were implemented.

  • A complete Fogra Verification - including the PSD evaluation verification method - is available as of version 1.14.1.
  • G7 Grayscale as well as G7 Targeted verification is available as of 1.14.2.
  • The G7 full Verification is available in version 1.15.0
  • Comparison measurements for checking the stability of printing systems as well as between printing systems are also available with version 1.15.0

Access to "Verifications"

Note that Verifications area accessible at no extra cost for Durst Workflow +, Durst Workflow Label + and Durst Workflow Single Pass licenses as of version 1.15.0. If you also want to access the FOGRA Verification, please inform us by mail to [email protected] , mentioning the Maintenance contract number.

2.3.1. G7 Color Space Verification

In the environment of the G7 Verification, further Media Wedges and references were added with version 1.14.2 and the G7 Verification was completed. With version 1.15.0, the following Verification Methods are therefore available for selection:

G7 Verifications

Verification of printing - combination of Printer, Ink and Substrate - against the following Verification Methods:

  • G7-Grayscale - verification of the gray axis
  • G7-Targeted - verification of the gray axis as well as primary colors
  • G7 Color Space - verification of the gray axis, primary colors as well as the entire gamut

Measurement for the G7 Color Space

Note that the measurement of the multi-page Print Chart for this method is not yet supported in version 1.15.0. To perform a Color Space Verification according to G7, you currently need to upload the corresponding measurement file. The measurement is available as of version 1.15.2 in the Workflow.

2.3.2. Compare Measurements

With version 1.15.0 Compare measurements are available for checking the stability of printing systems as well as between printing systems. These measurements can be used to check the print in combination of Printer, Ink and Substrate with regard to the following variables:

  • a self-defined house standard
  • the stability of the printing system in production run
  • another printing system

To create the Verification Job for comparison measurement, proceed basically as described in the article Perform a Verification. The difference to the procedure described there is that a reference must first be created for comparison measurements. This means that further Verification Jobs can be compared against this reference.

Create Reference measurement

The following steps must be followed when creating a reference measurement:

  1. Create a new Verification order via the Add button.
  2. In the Add Verification Job dialog, select Compare in Type of Verification [23].
  3. Select the corresponding Media Wedge [24]. The Media Wedge - Barbieri DOC Control Strip CMYK - is used for the comparison measurements.
  4. Make the desired settings in the General, Layout and Captions steps and complete the process by clicking Create.

  1. In the list of Verifications, a comparison is displayed by the Custom Compare [25] Verification Type.

  1. Print the Verification Job on the selected Printer. The status of the Verification Job changes to "Printed".
  2. Measure the Media Wedge with a Measuring Device. The status of the Verification Job changes to "Measured".
  3. Since there's no Reference available yet for the used Substrate at the selected Printer in the Workflow, you must first create a reference for comparison measurements. To do this, select the entry Create Reference from Verification [26] from the selection menu.

  1. In the Add Verification Reference dialog, assign a unique Name [27] for the Reference.
  2. Press Create [28], which creates this measurement in the background as a reference measurement for future comparison measurements. Note that the status for the Verification Job does not change.

Delete the Verification Job for the Reference

Note that when you create a Verification Reference, it is saved in the Workflow. Even if you delete the Verification Job from which the Reference was created, the Verification Reference remains in the Workflow.

Set FOGRA or G7 Verification as Reference

You can measure your own reference and set it as a reference. However, you can also save an existing measurement of a FOGRA or G7 Verification as a reference and compare subsequent measurements against it. Note, however, that the measurement must always be based on the same Media Wedge, otherwise no comparison is possible.

Perform a Comparison

Only when you have created a Reference you can use the measurement of a print job to perform a comparison with the created Reference. To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. Duplicate the Verification Job that you used for the Reference or add a new Verification Job with the same settings that you used for the Reference.
  2. Change the Name [29] accordingly and activate the option Reset the Status to "Printed" [30].
  3. Click Duplicate [31], which creates a Verification Job with the same settings that were used to create the reference. The status of the new Verification Job is "Printed".

  1. Print the Verification Job or use an already printed Media Wedge, which you have already printed out with a Production Job.
  2. Measure the Media Wedge in the Workflow or upload the measurement data for the Media Wedge accordingly. The status of the Verification Job is "Measured".
  3. Select the Check Compliance dialog and select the corresponding initial measurement in Verification Reference [32].
  4. Then select the available Verification Method [33]. Currently, only one method is available.

  1. Press Check Compliance [34] to start the check.
  2. Generate the corresponding report or analyze possible deviations.

2.3.3. Manage References

It must be possible to add, edit and delete References. These and other administrative activities can be performed in the Manage References [35] tab. To do this, first select the Verification Reference [36] area. Decide whether you want to view the content for a system-wide defined Reference or a Reference that you have created. Set the toggle [37] to the desired value:

  • System - displays only those References that are available by default in the Workflow.
  • User defined - displays only those References that you have created manually in the Workflow.

Then select for which range [38] - Compare, Fogra or G7 - you want to have references displayed. Once you have selected the area, select the desired Verification Reference [39] in the list below. As soon as you have selected an entry, you can Edit the Verification Reference [41] and change the Name, the Comment and the Measurement Condition. Furthermore, you can delete the Verification Reference [40] - deleting the reference is irreversible!

The details of the selected Verification Reference can be viewed right beside it. The contents are grouped in three tabs [42]:

  • Overview - Names, the Comment, the Measurement Condition and the list of the used Media Wedges are displayed.
  • By Color Policy -  the list of the Verification results is displayed grouped by Color Policies. To expand the subarea in the list, click the arrow icon [43]. How many entries are located in the list of a subarea is shown as a number in round brackets in front of it.
  • By Verification Method - the list of Verification results is displayed grouped by Verification Method, .

2.3.4. Minor Improvements

With version 1.15.0, minor improvements in the user interface have been implemented. These are:

Measuring of Verification Jobs: Until version 1.15.0, Verification Jobs had to be printed first before they could be measured. This meant that an extra step - sending the Verification Job to the Printer - had to be performed by the user. From now on, Verification Jobs with Status "Created" can be measured immediately. This means that Media Wedges that have been printed in a Production Job during Imposition can be measured immediately.

Reset Verification to State "Measured" [44]: The already existing command, has been moved to the dropdown menu.

2.4. Cut Info

In version 1.14.1, the Cut Info tab has been implemented within a Production Job. Learn more about it here.

In this version of the Workflow, two further enhancements have been made to this tab. First of all, in addition to the general list view of the Cut Info tab, the area with the aggregated information [45] about all cut files of the Production Job has been added. Furthermore, the information provided by the Cutter Device via bidirectional communication is displayed in a separate list area [47] per cut file. This makes it easier for the user to understand which data is provided by the Workflow [46] and which data is provided by the Cutter [47].

Role Permission

Users can set the authorization for the Cut Info in the Production Job via the Administration > Users & Roles > Manage Roles tab.

2.5. Handling of "White" on different output devices

Up to version 1.15.0, any white Spot Color present in a file was deleted or ignored during rendering while printing on a Printer without white ink. With version 1.15.0, a new system setting Convert "White" to 0/0/0/0 is provided in Administration > Settings > General > RIP Settings, which allows you to configure this behavior.

Activation of the Convert "White" to 0/0/0/0 CMYK option causes that the "White" Spot Color is converted to CMYK 0/0/0/0 when sent to the printer, if the printer does not have a Process Color "White". This behavior is executed for all Spot Colors or Spot Color names that are defined as "Output as Separation" for the Process Colors "White" and "White Over".

2.6. Data Preparation

With version 1.15.0, the conversion of Fixups to Variable Input option - these are marked with the tag V2 - was further advanced in the environment of Data Preparation. Existing Fixups were also improved and new Fixups were added.

2.6.1. General and Conversion to "V2"

The changeover of Fixups to Fixups with Variable Input fields, which was started with version 1.13.1, was continued in version 1.15.0. These Fixups are listed below with a corresponding note on their new features.

Add Grommets/Drillholes

This Fixup adds Grommets/Drillholes to the selected horizontal or vertical edges. You can select either: add Grommets by Numbers or add Grommets by Distance. The size and colour of the Grommets/Drillholes can be defined in the "Advanced" tab.

New feature

  • Conversion of the XML file to v2. No functional or layout change.
  • The possibility to save templates was added

Change Overprint-State of a Spot Color

This Fixup sets the overprint-state of the included Spot Colors to "Overprint" or to "Knockout".

2.6.2. New Fixups

With version 1.15.0 the following new Fixups were added.

Remove ICC Source Profiles

This Fixup decalibrates color spaces by removing the ICC Source Profiles for the selected color spaces from the individual objects.

Use this Fixup e.g. to protect CMYK objects from unnecessary color conversion. This happens especially when the source profile is the same as the output intent. Use the Fixup to display the color values without simulation for CMYK based objects in the PDF Editor. Furthermore, you will find white overprinting CMYK objects that have a source profile assigned to them as overprinting white objects  when removing and checking CMYK source profiles,.

Overlay PDF on Print Item/Article

This Fixup places the specified file on the Print Item according to the selected Origin as well as the selected Position. In case you want to place Dielines on the Print Item, you must select "Multiply" in the "Blend Mode" option and "Not Isolated" in the "Transparency Group" option so that objects behind it are not knockedout. If you want to place a PDF that contains transparent objects in the Print Item and you want to multiply the transparencies in the PDF against the background, you must select "Multiply" in the "Fill Mode" option and "Not Isolated" in the "Transparency Group" option. If you select "Isolated" in the "Transparency group" option, the entire PDF is multiplied against the Print Item, existing transparencies in the PDF are isolated and thus not multiplied against the background.

Use this Fixup to cover the following functions:

  • Apply Watermark: Apply a watermark by overlaying the Print Item to visually protect the Print Item for the Approval Report.
  • Overlay Dieline on Print Item: Merge the Print Item with a separately saved Dieline.
  • Overlay white separation on Print Item: Merge the Print Item with a separately saved white channel.
  • Place company logo on Print Item: Place the company logo in the desired position on your own demo images,

Map Spot Color to CMYK 0/0/0/0

Convert all listed Spot Colors to CMYK White and change the overprinting status for the object from "Overprint" to "Knockout".

Set Scale Factor dynamically

By setting the Scale Factor e.g. 1:10, the effective size of the page is increased 10 times. Which Scale Factor is applied to the Print Item depends on an existing string in the file name. The string to be searched for must be entered in the "Search Pattern" input field and the matching Scale Factor must be selected in "Result".

Set page scaling factor dynamically

By using this Fixup, scale the Print Item to its final size as soon as you upload it to the Workflow. The Fixup is also located in the Check-in template.

Increase Spot Color Separation

This Fixup increases the printed area of a selected Spot Color (e.g. white) by the entered value. Determine whether interior areas - e.g. hallmarks of a letter - should be reduced by the set value, or whether they should be excluded from the enlargement.

Use this Fixup to e.g. create a white frame for the subject. You can also use this Fixup to slightly enlarge the area of the Primer to create areas at the edges of a Print Item in the print.

Create and Store Preview

Use this Fixup to generate a preview for the Print Item based on the selected conditions in the defined Color Space, resolution, and file type, and then store it in the Extras tab.

Use this Fixup, for example, to generate a reduced view for an Approval Process which you can query via the Rest API and forward to the customer.

2.6.3. Improvement of exisiting Fixups

In subsequent Fixups, the range of functions was expanded or the handling was greatly simplified.

Upscale Image Resolution

The resolution for color, grayscale, or monochrome images is upsampled to the specified target resolution. Use this Fixup to reduce the sawtooth effect on the sharp edges of objects

New features

  • Creation of the possibility to define the threshold - For Resolution less than [48] [49] -, from when the image resolution is recalculated.

Create Ellipse/Rectangle as Technical Shape

This Fixup creates a geometric shape based on the selected position and specified size. Use this Fixup to create a circle shaped Dieline originating from the center of the Print Item.

New features

  • Prevent generation of Dieline if a Dieline already exists [50] - When activating this option, no Dieline will be generated when selecting the Fixup, if the Print Item contains a Stroke with a defined Spot Color. Please note that it has to be a Stroke! Fills are not taken into account here!

Add a Dieline to the ImageBox

This Fixup adds an overprinting Dieline in the size of the selected production frame - ImageBox or ImageBox + Bleed - and optionally an additional overprinting Dieline in the defined Offset. The Dieline is assigned to the Processing Steps Group and Type according to ISO 19593-1.

New features

  • Skip generation of the Dieline if a Dieline already exists [51] - By activating this option, no Dieline is created when the Fixup is selected if a Stroke with a defined Spot Color is present in the Print Item. Please note that it has to be a Stroke! Fills are not taken into account here!
  • Corner Type [52] - Select whether the corner of the Dieline should be Rounded or Beveled. If you neither want to create rounded nor beveled corners, enter the value "0" in the Corner Radius [53] option.

Add a Dieline for Irregular Shapes

This Fixup adds an overprinting Dieline based on an irregular shape and optionally adds a second overprinted Dieline in the defined Offset. The Dieline is assigned to the Processing Steps Group and Type according to ISO 19593-1

  • Skip generation of the Dieline if a Dieline already exists [54] – By activating this option, no Dieline is created when the Fixup is selected if a Stroke with a defined Spot Color is present in the Print Item. Please note it has to be a Stroke! Fills are not taken into account here!

Add a Dieline from the Center

This Fixup adds a Dieline using a specific width and height from the center of the Print Item and optionally a second overprinting Dieline in the defined Offset. The DieLines are assigned to the Processing Steps Group and Type according to ISO 19593-1.

New features

  • Skip generation of the Dieline if a Dieline already exists [55] – When the Fixup is selected, no Dieline is created if a Stroke with a defined Spot Color is present in the Print Item. Please note that it has to be a Stroke! Fills are not taken into account here!
  • Corner Type [56] – Select whether the corner of the Dieline should be Rounded or Beveled. If you neither want to create rounded nor beveled corners, enter the value "0" in the Corner Radius [57] option.

Derive a Dieline from Spot Color

This Fixup creates a Dieline by tracing Spot Color objects. On the one hand, this Fixup can be used to offset an existing Dieline, on the other hand, to derive a Dieline from Spot Color objects. This converts a non-path Dieline to a Dieline as a path.

New features

  • Skip generation of the Dieline if a Dieline already exists [58] - When the Fixup is selected, no Dieline is created if a Stroke with a defined Spot Color is present in the Print Item. Please note that it has to be a Stroke! Fills are not taken into account here!

Clip existing Separation

  • Quality - determine how accurate the tracing and inward offset should be, saving processing time for this Fixup.
    • Precise - the used resolution changes from 1200 dpi to 300 dpi depending on the image size.
    • Fast - the used resolution changes from 600 dpi to 100 dpi depending on the motif size
  • Templates - provide the possibility to create and save templates for this Fixup.
  • Extract DeviceN Color - if the Spot Color which is to be reduced is found in a DeviceN construct, this Spot Color will be separated beforehand. Thus, the reduction does not refer to the entire DeviceN construct, but only to the searched Spot Color extract.

2.7. SDK versions

With version 1.15.0 a new SDK version is available, in which some improvements were made and errors on the part of the manufacturers were repaired. The following SDK version has been updated in this release:

  • Callas Software pdfToolbox 14.2.612
  • Callas Software pdfChip 2.5.083
  • Color Logic CrossXColor 1.20.4
  • Global Graphics HHR 13.2.2

3. Improvements

The following improvements have also been implemented in version 1.15.0.

3.1. Check-in Preflight and Fixup Templates

The functional scope of the Check-in profile has been expanded so that Print Data can already be checked and normalized according to requirements when it is uploaded to the Workflow. The template used for the Print Item is also saved. With Check-in Preflight and Fixup Templates, it is possible to bring your Print Data to an optimum state before it is further processed in the Workflow and finally output. Read this section to find out which enhancements have been made in this version.

3.1.1. Extension of the field of application

As of this version, the desired Check-in Preflight and Fixup Template can be selected everywhere in the Workflow where Print Items or Articles can be uploaded. However, the Check-in Template which is defined in the Workflow settings is used by default. From this version onwards, additional Check-in Templates can be selected at the following points in the Workflow:

  • Article
    • Create Article dialog in the Options tab without configuration option
    • Drop zone above the Article list with configuration option
  • Order
    • Add Print Item dialog in an open Order in the Options tab without configuration option
    • Drop zone within an Order with configuration option
  • Production Job
    • Add Print Item dialog in an open production order under the Options tab without configuration option
    • Drop zone [59] within a Production Job with configuration option (see figure below)

Which Check-in Template is to be applied can be set via the configuration option [60] for the respective drop zones.

3.1.2. New and extended Checks

The following new Checks can be applied in a Check-in Preflight and Fixup Template as of version 1.15.0:

CMYK Object uses Rich Black

The check verifies whether CMYK objects of the selected object type - Text, Vector, Text and Vector, Image or All Objects - are printed in Rich Black. While texts and vectors are checked by entering a maximum value for each CMYK channel, images are checked with regard to the maximum total ink application (TAC).

RGB Object uses Rich Black

Checks whether RGB objects of the selected object type - Text, Vector, Text and Vector, Image or All Objects - would be printed as Rich Black. While "text" and "vectors" are checked by entering a minimum value for each RGB channel, images are checked with regard to the maximum Total Ink Coverage (TAC).

Tint Value of Spot Color less than

Checks whether the Tint Value or Opacity of the searched Spot Colors is less than defined. Use this to check whether the Spot Color Separation for "Primer" is set to 100% so that when rendering Primer is printed as intended in the Color Setup.

3.1.3. New and extended Fixups

The following new Fixups can be applied in a check-in Preflight and Fixup Template as of version 1.15.0:

Remove objects that are not visible

This Fixup removes all non-visible objects that have no influence on the printed result. The objects must be completely hidden by another object and the overlying object must not be overprinting or have a fill mode - Multiply, Overlay, etc. -. Objects that have a Technical Color will not be deleted, even if they are completely hidden. The same is done for objects that have Spot Colors like "White", "Varnish", "Primer" etc. When the security check is activated, the rendered result is compared with the original to detect any visual changes. If a visual change is detected, the correction is not executed. Please note, however, that this visual comparison may take some time.

Set User Unit

This Fixup sets the User Unit (Scaling Factor) to the selected value. Attention: The displayed dimensions as well as the resolutions in the Workflow represent effective values. The set User Unit is therefore already included for these values.

  • Operator – You can choose between "Starts with", "Ends with", "Contains", "Is equal to" and "Set to". The respective selection determines where in the file name to search for Search Patterns so that the Fixup is applied. If "Set to" is selected, then no Search Pattern is searched for, but the scale factor is set as selected.
  • Search Pattern – Determines what pattern to look for in the file name to apply the Fixup with the selected result.
  • Result – The desired page scaling factor must be selected in this selection menu.

3.2. Check results

Before 1.15.0, only Errors [61] and Warnings [62] of the Preflight results were displayed as Check results in Articles, Orders, and Production Jobs in the view of Document information and user-defined fields. 

As of 1.15.0, Information [63] is also displayed in this area. The determination of the severity level - whether Info, Warning, or Error - can be defined as usual in each case via Administration > Settings > Checks / Fixups in the respective Check-in Preflight and Fixup Template.

3.3. Grid Charts

Some improvements have been implemented for the Grid Charts in 1.15.0.

3.3.1. Standard Grid Chart

In this version, the creation of a Standard Grid Chart has been adapted and revised. A Grid Chart (standard) can be created either via the menu item Color > Color Books & Grid Charts > Grid Chart or directly in the detail view of an Article or a Print Item in an Order or Production Job.

The creation process is always the same, no matter where you started. You have to go through the following steps:

  1. Select the menu item for creating a Grid Chart
  2. Select a Printer with the corresponding Output Configuration
  3. Configure the Grid Chart and its colors
  4. Define the Grid for the layout of the Grid Chart
  5. Create the Grid Chart to print later or send the Grid Chart to the selected Printer immediately after creation.

All you have to do is to adjust the options in each step to execute your project.

Step 1: General
  1. Enter a Name [64] for the Grid Chart which is to be created.
  2. In this step, select the Printer and with which Output Configuration the Grid Chart should be printed. If you are creating a Grid Chart for a selected Spot Color from the detail view of an Article, Order, or Production Job, all of the input fields below should already be preselected.
    • Printer [65] - Select the target printer, which will already limit the selection in the Substrate option to the assigned Substrate for the Printer.
    • Substrate [66] - Select the Substrate which should be used. Thereby, already limit the selection in the Color Policy option to the available Color Policies for the Substrate.
    • Color Policy [67] - Select the Color Policy which should be used. If you already know in advance which Color Policy you want to use to print the Grid Chart, select the Color Policy by entering the ID in the selection menu. This procedure automatically selects the Printer and Substrate accordingly to the preceding options. The number of colors with which the Grid Chart will be printed is indicated to the user by the visualization of the color channels.
    • Destination directory [68] - Determine in which directory (Hotfolder) the Grid Chart should be rendered to the Printer.
  3. Press Next to switch to the next step Chart Configuration.

Step 2: Grid Chart Configuration
  1. Select the desired Template [69] for the Grid Chart. The Template determines the appearance and size of the Grid Chart.
  2. Select the desired Patch Size [70]. The larger the Patch Size is, the fewer color patches can be created on the Grid Chart.
  3. Optionally, select a desired Base Spot Color. Depending on where you started, you will be offered either all System-wide, Substrate-specific, and Custom Spot Colors or Spot Colors from a color Library. It is also possible that only the Spot Colors of the current Print Item are displayed. If the Grid Chart for a selected Spot Color was created in the detail view of an Article, Order, or Production Job, this Spot Color is of course already pre-selected.
  4. Then select the Color Space [71] with which the Grid Chart should be created. Normally, the DeviceN Color Space is selected to be able to map the channel-specific changes of the percentage values in the Grid Chart.
  5. The corresponding color values [72] for the selected Color Space are displayed. It only makes sense to adjust the color values if the base color value (the center field in the horizontal and vertical line of the Grid Chart) differs significantly from the calculated color values.
  6. Specify which color channel should be changed on which Axis [73]. All unselected axes remain static and use the defined initial value.
  7. Then determine the desired Increment [74] per color field for each axis.
  8. Press Next to switch to the next step Layout.

Step 3: Layout
  1. In the Layout step, determine which Grid and with which information should be output at the Printer.
    • Impose Sheet Size [75] - Select the size of the Imposition to be created by either selecting the desired Substrate Definition or entering a Custom Impose Sheet Size.
      • Substrate Definition - Select a desired Substrate Definition. This selection is available only if the Use Substrate Definition option is selected.
      • Width and Height - Define the size of the Impose Sheet. These options are only available if the Custom option is selected.
    • Alignment [76] - Define how the grid at Grid Charts should be aligned horizontally or vertically on the Impose Sheet.
    • Grid Settings [77] -  By specifying Columns and Rows determine in which Grid the Grid Charts should be imposed and output at the Printer.
    • Spacing [78] - Determine the horizontal and vertical spacing between the individual Grid Charts.
    • Rotate [79] - Determine how the Grid Charts should be rotated on the material.
    • Additional Color (White, Varnish, etc.) [80] - If desired and available, select an additional color - such as White or Primer - which will be output as a separate Separation.
    • Tonal Value and Overprint - Determine the Tonal Value of the additional color and define whether it should be output in Overprint or in Knockout. Make sure that "Primer" is always output at 100% so that the Color Setup can determine and use the correct Primer application.
  2. Select Create if you want to create the Grid Chart without sending it to the Printer. This can also be done later in the Color > Color Books & Grid Charts menu item.
  3. Press Create and Send to Printer to complete the creation process and output the Grid Chart to the Printer.

3.3.2. Handling of "White", "Varnish" and "Primer"

As of version 1.15.0, users can select and use "White", "Varnish" and "Primer" directly in the dialog when creating a Grid Chart. Proceed as follows:

  1. Navigate to Color > Color Books & Grid Charts.
  2. Create any Grid Chart - Grid Chart, Grid Chart of Tonal Values or Grid Chart of overprinting Spot Colors.
  3. Configure all the necessary settings for the Grid Chart and go to the Layout step.
  4. Select the desired color from the drop-down menu under Additional Color (White, Varnish, etc.) [81]. You will be offered all Spot Colors which are available in the system and have been marked as Separation.
  5. In Tonal Value [82]  determine the percentage of the separation color, as well as select or deselect Overprint [83] for the desired color.

»White« or »Varnish« as Base Spot Color

If "White" or "Varnish" is already selected as the Base Spot Color under General, this color is not available as an Additional Color.

3.4. XML Hotfolder with Fixup Chains

With version 1.15.0 the possibility was created to apply Fixup Chains [85] as well as Templates of a Fixup [84] to Print Items in an XML Hotfolder.

3.5. RHO/P5 Jobticket

Starting from this version, additional information is written into the Job Ticket for Rho/Delta printers, which can optionally be used in the printer software or as an Inprint. The following parameters are additionally written into the Job Ticket starting from this version:

  • Passport information of the Print Configuration - PRT QLT=2PASS
  • Finishing information of the Print Configuration - PRT FIN=MATT or PRT FIN=GLOSSY
  • Production date of the Production Job - WF PRODUCTION_JOB.PRODUCTION_DATE=2023-03-07T07:00
  • Production Job delivery date - WF PRODUCTION_JOB.SHIPPING_DATE=2023-03-17

3.6. Permission for Save Ink function

As of version 1.15.0, the permission to use the Save Ink function can be obtained separately for Durst and Vanguard Printers as well as for third-party Printers. It is necessary to obtain a separate Licence as Add-on. To do that contact customer support or your sales partner.

Select the Save Ink function also for other Printers?

Note that the Save Ink selection field in the Output Configuration is accessible even if there is no valid license for it. However, when transferring to the Printer of a Production Job, an error message is displayed if the authorization for it is missing.

3.7. GUIDs kopieren und wiederverwenden

GUID

Eine GUID (Globally Unique Identifier) ist eine 128-Bit-Zahl zur Generierung eindeutiger Identifikatoren für Objekte. Vorteile sind, dass  GUIDs praktisch garantiert eindeutig sind und keine Reihenfolgeabhängigkeit besteht. Sie sind auch nützlich für die Referenzierung von Objekten über verschiedene Netzwerke und Anwendungen hinweg.

Ab Version 1.15.0 ist es möglich für einige Bereiche im Workflow die GUID zu kopieren und wiederzuverwenden. Dies ist für die Bereiche Check-in Prüf- und Korrekturvorlagen, Datenkorrekturen und Grid Charts des Workflows anwendbar, um diese zum Beispiel für XML-Hotfolder oder die Rest-API zu verwenden. Gehen Sie dafür folgendermaßen vor:

3.7.1. Copy and reuse GUID

Check-in Preflight and Fixup Templates must be able to be shared across systems and accessed via the Rest API. To copy the GUID, proceed as follows:

  1. Navigate to Administration > Settings > Preflight / Fixups > Check-in Preflight and Fixup Templates.
  2. Select the desired Check-in Preflight and Fixup Template [86] in the list.
  3. Open the Display Options menu [88].
  4. Select the Copy GUID to Clipboard [87] command.
  5. Use the copied string, e.g. for the Rest API, to use the respective Check-in Template for a call.

3.7.2. Copy GUID of a Fixup Template

The GUID for submitting a data correction can be used for use in an XML file or for the Rest API. To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. Open an Article or a Print Item in the Workflow.
  2. Activate the Data Preparation tab.
  3. Open the dialog for applying a desired Data Preparation.
  4. Open the Display Options [89] menu.
  5. Select the entry Copy GUID to Clipboard [90].
  6. Use the copied string e.g. for the Rest-API to use the respective check-in template for a call or use it in the XML file for an automated Data Preparation via XML Hotfolder.

3.7.3. Copy GUID of a Grid Chart

To copy the GUID of a Grid Chart, follow these steps.

  1. Navigate to Farbe Color > Color Books & Grid Charts > Tonal Value/Overprint Grid Chart.
  2. Select a desired Grid Chart from the list.
  3. Click on the Copy GUID to Clipboard [91] icon.
  4. Use the copied string, e.g. for the Rest API, to use the respective Grid Chart for a call.

3.8. Print Charts for Calibration

In this version, the scope of the Print Charts for calibration has been expanded and improved. The following Print Charts have been added or updated in this version:

  • REPROF-Chart_CMYK_210_i1Pro3Plus_16mm (newly mapped with Measurement Device »i1Pro3«)
  • TRANS-Chart_CMYK-lM_320_i1Pro3_Plus_16mm (newly mapped with Measurement Device »i1Pro3«)

3.9. Rest API

Some additional functions are provided via the Rest API as of version 1.15.0.

3.9.1. Length and duration of the Cut File or Cut Run

For the Rest API, the possibility of calling an API function in the Prin Rrun has been created, with which the length of the Cut File and the duration of the Cut process can be retrieved.

3.9.2. Print Item Size

Since version 1.15.0 it is possible to output all calls containing meta information of a Print Item in the actual calculated size after successful check-in.

3.9.3. User-defined fields for Production Jobs:

A new endpoint GET api/v1/productionJobs/customField supplies the user-defined fields which are defined in the Workflow.

3.9.4. List of Fixup Chains

Through POST api/v2/fixup-chain/list it is possible to search and filter for Fixup Chains. The Output also supplies the contained Fixups.

3.10. Minor Improvements

In version 1.15.0 of the Workflow some further mino improvements are supplied, these are:

List of Production Jobs

As of version 1.15.0, an additional Template column - the Output Configuration Template - is available for the list of all Production Jobs. This column can be shown and hidden in the column settings.

Furthermore, the list of Production Jobs can also be filtered by Templates of the Output Configuration.

Send Production Jobs to the Printer without Color Management

Up to version 1.15.0, Technical Colors and colors that are output as their own separation (e.g. "White") were color-calculated at the Printer if Color Management was deactivated in the Workflow. As of this version, the behavior has been adjusted.

  • Technical Colors are treated as in the normal rendering process and are no longer printed.
  • Colors, which are output as own Separation, are also treated and printed as such

Multi-page Approval Reports in the Approval Portal

As of this version, the number of pages that make up an Approval Report is displayed in the Approval Portal. This information did not exist until now.

Delay for Tool Tips

Tool Tips allow to display additional information about a certain element when hovering the mouse pointer. As of this version, these Tool Tips are displayed with a delay to avoid accidental display. This allows the user to display the information in a more targeted manner and not be disturbed by unnecessary Tool Tips.

Routine »Cleanup Zunicomm Jobs & Logs«

In this version the routine Cleanup Zunicomm Jobs & Logs was improved by further functions. Up to version 1.15.0 all ZuniComm job entries older than X days were loaded, in order to clean up then individually the associated files. In some cases the large amount of data caused problems. For this reason, from this version on, the database is cleaned up in packages. This is also done for render satellites from this version on.

Reset the Polygon Tool

In this version, a shortcut has been implemented for resetting the Polygon Tool in the VDP Editor. Pressing the D key resets the Polygon Tool settings. The same behavior has been implemented for the Text Polygon Tool.

Furthermore, all Object Creation Tools have the same default values as of this version. Initially, a black Stroke with a transparent Fill is created.

4. Fixed Bugs

The following bugs were fixed with this Release.

4.1. Workflow

Fotoba XLA Barcode: In some cases a DNS timeout occurred when generating the Fotoba XLA Barcode. If problems occur the DNS timeout can be defined in the PMS ApplicationProperties from this version on.

DXF Cut Files: It was not possible to use rectangular marks in DXF Cut Files. Circles were always drawn in DXF, although the mark was a rectangular one.

Grid Charts: The behavior when creating and managing Grid Charts (Standard, Tonal Value and Overprint Grid Charts) has been stabilized in this version. Several minor problems have been fixed.

Create Output Template: When a new Output Template was created for a Production Job, the Activate Color Management option was disabled by default. This error has been corrected.

CMYK-OVG linearization: No Print Chart for calibration could be sent to the printer if a Pre-linearization for this Color Setup was previously calculated.

Production Job Production Date or Time: The production time of a Production Job was always displayed as 08:00, although another time was defined.

Split VDP Production Job in Suborders: When splitting a VDP Production Job into several Suborders, the wrong quantity was written into the TAU-JDF Job Ticket. The total quantity was always written to the Job Ticket instead of the quantity of the Suborder. The error has been fixed.

Send Lead In/Out to the Printer: When the Lead In/Out was sent to the Printer, always all HHR instances of the license were used. This behavior has been corrected. Furthermore, the Main-ZuniComm instance was always used although a Render Satellite should have been used.

Barcode "Korean Postal Code": The Barcode couldn't be generated. The error was fixed.

Third-party Printers: The print configurations were not created automatically when a new PrintFactory instance was created.

Data Prepartion – Create White Separation: Technical colors were highlighted with "White". The error has been fixed.

4.2. Impose Editor

Tiling: After opening an already existing Tiling Imposition the separation lines for the Tile weren't displayed. This error has been fixed.

Multi-page Nesting on ImageBox + Bleed: Partially Print Items were overlapping when these were imposed based on the ImageBox + Bleed and a multi-page Nesting was selected.

Handling of Copies in Tiling: When a Print Item with a defined No. of Copies was split in Tiling, the amount was set to "1" in the Impose Editor. When the finished Tiling was then sent via the Send to Printer dialog to the Printer, "1" was used in No. of Copies up to this version. From this version on, the initial No. of Copies of the initial Print Item will be used.

White Background for Barcodes: For a Barcode Caption the background color could be defined. When the background color was set to "White" then no "White" Separation was depicted. This bug has been fixed.

Objects outside the Artboard: The warning that objects were located outside the Artboard was partially shown although the warning didn't apply. The behavior was adapated.

Remove Sheet Duplicates: When the last page was activated a in a multi-page Nesting and because of the option Remove Sheet Duplicates the last page didn't exist anymore, the Browser found itself in an endless loop. This bug was fixed.

4.3. VDP-Editor

Random Serial Number: A random serial number could not be generated if the number for repetition was greater than 1. The error was fixed.

Magnetic Guide Lines: The bottom edges of objects sometimes did not behave magnetically towards the Guide Lines. The behavior was adjusted.

VDP Preview: After saving the VDP Editor, a preview is displayed in the Variable Data tab. This preview was distorted in some cases. The behavior could be corrected.

Import VDP Settings: When importing a VDP configuration, the "Show Text" option was enabled for Barcodes, although this setting was previously disabled.

Line Width for Text: The Line Width in VDP Editor was drawn to the outside. Due to the Imposition, the Line Width of a Stroke was built from the center. As of this version, the VDP Editor also draws the Stroke from the center.

CSV file: Problems were encountered with CSV files that had different numbers of columns defined per row. This behavior could be improved by better interpretation of these problem files. Starting from this version, the following encodings for CSV files are supported:

  • UTF-8
  • UTF-8-BOM
  • UTF-16 BE-BOM
  • UTF-16 LE-BOM

5. Hot Fixes

The name for the June 15, 2023 release was "DW Build 1.15.0.(816)". The following hotfixes were fixed in the following subversions:

DW Version 1.15.0.(830)

Tau Preview Files: Preview Files for TAU-Software were generated incorrectly. The width of the files was wrong.

License: Log-in window showed „Your License has expired“, although the license was valid.

SwissQPrint Nyala: Printer could not be used anymore.

GridChart: The ordering of the Color Channel Configuration was displayed incorrectly in some cases.

Tiling Impose Templates: Old Tiling Impose Templates could not be applied anymore.

SMB & MacOS: Some connection issues could be resolved in combination with MacOS shares.

Fixup – Derive a Dieline from Spot Color: Problems with the Option „Skip generation of the Dieline if a Dieline already exists“.

DW Version 1.15.0.(833)

Fixups: 30 Fixups were reworked because of troubles with PDF User Units (issues just happened in some cases).

ZuniComm: Sporadically the service »ZuniComm« was not able to be restarted anymore. The bug has been fixed.
