Installation of updates for versions higher than 1.19.0

Workflow versions 1.19.1, 1.19.2, 1.20.0, and all future versions can only be installed if Workflow version 1.19.0(1080) or higher has been previously installed. This means that a direct update from earlier versions, such as 1.18.x, 1.17.x and 1.16.x, cannot be performed without first installing version 1.19.0(1080)! This requirement is due to internal improvements in the migration logic introduced in version 1.19.0(1080) or higher.

Important: before proceeding with this or any other future updates, please ensure that version 1.19.0(1080) is installed.

Additionally, an update from a Workflow version lower than 1.17.0 to version 1.19.0 or higher must first be carried out for version 1.17.0 and only then for 1.19.0(1080)!

Database migration from version 1.19.0

In addition to installing an update, a database migration has to be carried out from version 1.19.0 onward. There are three options for users to carry out the update::

  1. Directly after the installation (recommended): the migration is started automatically after the installation setup of version 1.19.0. Duration: between 5 minutes and 5 hours, the final duration depends on the database size.
  2. Manually at any subsequent moment: when the migration hasn't been carried out in the setup it is possible to start it manually afterwards (option 1 has not been used). To do this, the command  ppdtc.exe --automigrate-pg16 must be executed within the Windows command prompt (cmd). Thereby, the migration can be carried out flexibly timewise.
  3. Automatically when updating to 1.19.1 (or higher): in case the migration isn't carried out during the installation of 1.19.0 it will be carried out at the latest when updating to version 1.20.0 or higher.

Please note: In this case, the installation may take significantly longer due to the delayed migration.

No more upgrades possible for versions older than 1.11.0

Please note that since the release of version 1.19.0, it is no longer possible to upgrade Workflow versions older than 1.11.0 – release date: November 15, 2021!
