1.1. New Features in Workflow
The following new features are available in version 1.21.2 of the Workflow:
Impose Editor – In version 1.21.2, existing functions have been extended and improved:
- Multipage Files – Consistent Support in the Application – Since the implementation of the Impose Multipage Print Items feature in version 1.21.0, Multipage Print Items can now be processed consistently not only in the Impose Editor but also in Automation Jobs in combination with an Imposition. [PPDWF-10481]
- Multipage Print Items – Preparation Strategies – During file upload, the system determines whether all pages or only the first page of a Multipage Print Item are prepared. Based on the selected strategy, preview images are provided either for all pages or only for the first page, in both the Impose Editor and the tab "Print Item". [PPDWF-11487] [PPDWF-11489] [PPDWF-11589] [PPDWF-8463]
- Warning for Unprepared Pages – As of version 1.21.2, a warning is displayed when opening a Multipage PDF in the Impose Editor that was uploaded before version 1.21.2 and contains pages that have not been prepared. [PPDWF-11490] [PPDWF-11538]
- Placement Logic – Roll Substrate – In version 1.21.2, the placement logic for roll media was changed. As of this version, the longest Print Item is placed first on the roll media, rather than the Print Item with the largest area. This allows for optimal utilization of the material. [PPDWF-11614]
- Scaling Print Items – The ability to scale Print Items in the layout not only proportionally (by percentage) but also using absolute values has been introduced. This functionality is available in the "Edit Print Item" dialog. [PPDWF-11185]
- Shape Nesting – Improved Calculation – Improvement of shape nesting results for rectangular components (Tetris) by introducing a negative rounding accuracy. [PPDWF-10628]
- Mark "Vision Hybrid" – Enhancements – Extension of the existing mark "Vision Hybrid" to include the option of creating a color of the Dieline as a separate circle (always the innermost circle) within the Vision circle mark. [PPDWF11374]
- "Finishing" Tab – Add Dielines – Ability to set the offset for Dielines individually on all four sides. (Previously, only a single value was possible. [PPDWF-11479]
- Impose Mode "Nesting" – Additional Option for "Uniform Rotation" – An additional option has been provided that allows a Print Item to be rotated in the Imposition in exceptional cases, even though the option "Uniform Rotation" is enabled. This permits rotating a Print Item when it would otherwise not fit in the Imposition due to the width or height of the substrate. [PPDWF-11503]
- Impose Mode "Step Repeat" – One Print Item per Column/Row for Multipage Imposition – Starting with this version, a new feature is available that allows you to keep Print Items in place using the option "One Print Item per Column/Row" for Multipage Step & Repeat Print Items. [PPDWF-10067] [PPDWF-9716]
- Impose Mode "Bound Product" – Saddle Stitching – Starting with this version, the creation, editing, management, and use of Bound Products with Saddle Stitching is available in the Impose Editor for the first time. [PPDWF-10181] [PPDWF-10216] [PPDWF-11105]
- General Settings – For this Impose Mode, a Sheet Template and two Impose Templates are available. The Frontside and Backside of the created Impositions can be displayed.
- Parameters for Saddle Stitching – Provision of parameters for defining the N-Up Requirements and the Shingling.
- Crop Marks – For the positioning of crop marks, you can choose between a Signature and Signature N-Up.
- Page Preview – The completed imposed booklet can be previewed page by page.
- Sheet Template – Flicker Nesting – Introduction of the ability to randomly offset the Imposition by a defined increment up to a maximum offset on the X and Y axes. This ensures that the cutting process on a cutter device does not always start at the same position (usually the upper-left corner). This protects the cutting mat in production and reduces the frequency of replacement. [PPDWF-5970]
- Impose Template – Grouping – Impose Templates are displayed in all dropdowns as well as in the system settings of the Impose Editor, grouped as follows – Single Page Output | Double-Sided Output | Multipage Output | Double-Sided and Multipage Output. [PPDWF-8748]
- Zooming and Scrolling – Enhanced Possibilities – Provision of new shortcuts for zooming and scrolling in the Impose Editor. [PPDWF-11802]

- Import Template – Validation – When importing a Check-in- Preflight and Fixup Template, this version provides an improved description if referenced user-defined fields cannot be found in the system. [PPDWF-10719]
- "Size Check" with new Option – Provision of the additional option "Rotate 90° clockwise if only the Orientation is incorrect", which allows Print Items to be automatically rotated upon upload if the orientation alone is incorrect.
Profiling Project (GMG) – Profiling Charts – For the upcoming implementation of "GMG Color Management", a first development stage is now available for beta customers under the menu item Color > Profiling Charts. Various profiling charts can be created for Characterization [PPDWF-11316], Linearization [PPDWF-11316], Linearization Chart for Additional Colors or Additional Fluids, as well as G7 Linearization [PPDWF-11066] [PPDWF-11226] for different Measurement Devices and Color Configurations available in the system. - Uploading Separations – Revised user guidance for specifying which Separations are uploaded to the Approval Portal. [PPDWF-10765]
- Displaying Separations in the Approval Portal – From this version onward, the Approval Portal displays Technical Colors, Hybrid Colors, and Output-as-separation and Technical Colors in separate sections. Technical Colors and Output-as-Separation Colors are automatically hidden in the viewer when analyzing separations. [PPDAPS-69] [PPDAPS-72]
- Deleting Approval Projects – In the dashboard for Approval Projects, multiple Approval Projects can be selected and deleted as of version 1.21.2. [PPDWF-11947]

By using the checks – Check Number of Pages | Check availability of a Spot Color | Check availability of PageBoxes | Check Image Resolution | Check the Size of the PageBox | Check if Print Item is single-sided, double-sided or multipage | Check if Pages have the same size – Print Items can be checked and, depending on the result, a Fixup, Fixup Chain, Action, or no Action at all can be applied to the Print Item. [PPDWF-11080] [PPDWF-11663] [PPDWF-11124] [PPDWF-11122] [PPDWF-12509] [PPDWF-11661] [PPDWF-11663]

- Orders – Stacktrace when changing the Color Policy – When a new Color Policy was assigned to a Print Item in an existing Order, a stacktrace could occur. This behavior has been fixed. [PPDWF-12042]
- Warning Display – Default Color Policy – In the new user interface, up to this version, no warning was provided in the dialog System Status > Configuration if no Color Policy had been selected under Administration > Settings > Color Management > General. This behavior has been fixed. [PPDWF-11674]
- List Production Jobs – The Output Configuration used was not displayed for individual records. The missing entry has been fixed. [PPDWF-12290]
- Create Production Job – When creating a Production Job, invalid Output Configurations could previously be selected. The selection list now contains only valid Output Configurations. [PPDWF-12106]
