Learn in this article,
- which requirements are needed for this Fixup and
- how to apply this Fixup.
1. Introduction
2. General
Use this Fixup after checking if it turns out that the TrimBox does not match the existing Dieline, and the BleedBox isn't located at the desired distance from the TrimBox.
Find this Fixup in the footer of the Document Information and User-defined Fields area under the Print Data tab of an Article, Production Job or Order or in the Data Preparation tab.
3. Fixup Description
This Fixup sets the TrimBox to the selected Dieline and the BleedBox at a defined distance from the TrimBox. The Print Item is then also cropped to the BleedBox, but the Fixup itself will not create a Bleed.
3.1. Requirements and Functionality
In order for this Fixup to work correctly, the following requirements must be met:
- A Dieline has been added to the Print Item as a Spot Color.
- The Dieline must be a path and not a filled area.
- The Dieline does not have to use a system-wide defined Technical Color, since the user can also apply this Fixup using all Spot Colors contained in the document.
- The Dieline should be set to overprint. A Dieline that has been set to knockout, will not be set to overprint when using this Fixup.
- The document contains a defined Bleed.
Figure 1: The dialog Set TrimBox to the Dieline Fixup.
To set the TrimBox to the Dieline, the following options are available:
- Templates [1] – settings selected in the dialog can be saved as templates and thus applied to other Article/Print Items and used in the Apply Fixups operation.
- Select Dieline [2] – in this drop-down menu, select a Spot Color that is present in the print file. Select the Spot Color that represents the Dieline.
- Set selected Spot Color to Overprint [3] – activate this option if the selected Spot Color in Select Dieline should be set to overprint.
- Bleed [4] – enter the distance of the BleedBox from the TrimBox in the input field. It is possible to enter values between 0 and 20. Please note that creating the Bleed here only means setting the BleedBox. A Bleed can be created using the Fixups located in the Add Bleed Fixup Group. For Variable Content [5], select the desired placeholder – database field or custom field – from which the value for the Bleed should be retrieved.
3.2. Before/After
In the source file "Wine_Lugana_Start.pdf", all Page Boxes are set to the MediaBox. An overprinted Dieline using the Spot Color name CutContour is created using the correct size for the label with rounded corners.
Applying the Fixup creates a corrected version "Wine_Lugana_End.pdf".
