Learn in this article,
- which requirements are needed for this Fixup and
- how to apply this Fixup.
1. Introduction
In the Workflow the Fixup Flatten Layers is available. The aim of the Fixup is to show certain layers with the objects on them to change the appearance of the Print Item.
2. General
Use this Fixup to display e.g. all objects of a selected layer. Thus, the print file is displayed with all contents that are present.
The Fixup can be found in the footer of the Document Information and User-defined Fields area in the Manage Layers Fixup group of an Article, Job or Order or in the Data Preparation tab.
3. Fixup Description
This Fixup can be used to show currently hidden layers with their objects in the PDF file. Determine whether one or more layers should be shown easily by selecting the respective layer name. Note that showing a layer makes all objects on the layer visible. It is not possible to selectively choose objects that should be made visible.
3.1. Requirements and Functionality
The following conditions must be met to ensure smooth operation
- The Print Item has several layers
- Individual layers of the Print Item must be hidden
Figure 1: The Make Selected Layers Visible dialog
By clicking on the selection menu [1] the desired layer can be selected and subsequently shown. The Fixup allows to show multiple layers at the same time. Select therefore another layer in the selection menu.
3.2. Example File
To experiment with this function, refer to the sample file "Layer_Sample.pdf". In the sample file there are six layers, of which two layers are hidden and four layers are shown.
After applying the Fixup, the file "Layers_Sample_End4.pdf" is created, where all hidden layers are made visible.
