Learn in this article,
- which requirements must be met for this Fixup and
- how to apply the Fixup.
1. Introduction
In the Workflow the Fixup Hide Selected Layers is available. This Fixup aims to hide certain layers with all objects on them and thereby change the appearance of the Print Item.
2. General
Use this Fixup to hide e.g. all objects on a desired layer. Hence, only the printing content will be visible.
Find the Fixup in the footer of the Document Information and User-defined Fields section in the Fixup group Manage Layers of an Article, Order resp. Production Job or in the Data Preparation tab.
3. Fixup Description
With this Fixup currently visible layers with all objects located on them can be hidden in the PDF-file. Hiding one or more layers can be done easily by selecting the name of the respective layer. Note, that only the selected layers are hidden, the objects on the layers still remain in the PDF. The file size will not be reduced.
3.1. Requirements and Functionality
For this Fixup to do what it promises, the following conditions must be met:
- The Print Item has several layers
- Individual layers of the Print Item must be visible
Figure 1: The Hide Selected Layers dialog box
Select the layer that should be hidden by clicking on the selection menu [1]. This Fixup allows you to hide several layers at the same time. To do this, select another Layer from the selection menu.
3.2. Before/After
To experiment with this function, refer to the sample file "Layer_Sample.pdf". In the sample file there are six layers, of which two layers are hidden and four layers are shown.
After applying the Fixup, the file "Layer_Sample_End2.pdf" is created, where the Layer Marks and Bleed and the Layer Background have been hidden.
