3.102 Rename Spot Colors

1. Introduction

The Rename Spot Colors Fixup is available in the Workflow. The aim of this Fixup is to rename selected Spot Colors to the desired spelling.

2. General

The Fixup Rename Spot Colors Fixup can be used to rename the selected Spot Color as desired. RegEx (regular expressions) can also be used for this. This Fixup makes it possible to rename all Spot Color names, which are used for Dielines, white and primers e.g. in everyday production to rename Fixups in one go according to the house standard.

Find the Fixup in the Data Preparation tab of an Article, Order or Production Job by:

  • entering the name of the Fixup in the Filter area,
  • activating the option Color in the Category area,
  • activating the option Change or Rename in the Action area,
  • activating the option Spot Color in the Search area.

3. Description

Spot Colors can be easily renamed with this Fixup. In this way, a dieline can be quickly converted into a die. You can also use RegEx (regular expressions) to rename similar or different spellings of Spot Colors.

3.1. Requirements and Functionality

For the Fixups to do what it promises, the following conditions must be met:

  • There is at least one Spot Color in the file

Select from the following options to rename Spot Color:

  • Source Spot Color Name [1] – enter the name of the Spot Color that should be renamed here. Either the respective Spot Color name or a regex expression can be entered in the input field.
  • Target Spot Color Name [3] – enter the new name of the Spot Color here. All Technical Colors that can be found system-wide are also available for selection.
  • Add [2] – Click on the Add option to add another field for searching and replacing Spot Color Names.

3.2. Before/After

To experiment with this function, refer to the sample file "Sample_Rename Spotcolor.pdf". The file contains a dieline called "Cut". This Dieline should now be renamed to "Dieline".

After applying the Fixup, the file "Sample_Rename Spotcolor_End.pdf" is created. The selected Spot Color was renamed here. The values from Figure 1 were used.
