Updated on

Find out in this article,

  • which requirements must be met to carry out this Fixup and
  • how to apply the Fixup.

1. Introduction

The Render Comments Fixup is available in the Workflow. The aim of this Fixup is to render a comment within the printable area and thus make it printable. This can also drastically change the appearance of the Print Items.

2. General

The Fixup Render Comments can be used to convert comments or notes in the PDF that are located in the print area into printable objects - created in RGB. The RGB objects created in this way are assigned the sRGB source profile and all fonts used in the comment are embedded.

Find the Fixup in the Data Preparation tab of an Article, Order or Production Job by:

  • entering the name of the Fixup in the Filter area,
  • activating the option Page Content in the Category area,
  • activating the option Convert and Make Visible in the Action area,
  • activating the option Comments in the Search area.

3. Description

This Fixup can be used to convert comments such as text, areas, lines, notes and highlights into printable objects. Comments normally are not printed, which is why the appearance of the file before and after printing can often differ drastically. However, if the comment is to be printed, it must be rendered.

3.1. Requirements and Functionality

For Fixups to do what it promises, the following requirements must be met:

  • There is a comment/note within the print area that is to be printed.

No further options can be selected.

3.2. Before/After

To experiment with this function, refer to the sample file "Sample_Render Comments.pdf". The file contains a comment that significantly changes the appearance of the Print Items. The comment should therefore also be printed.

After applying the Fixups, the file "Sample_Render Comments_End.pdf" is created, where the comment has been rendered and the fonts have been embedded.
