The Fixup Fill Closed Path with Spot Color is available in the Workflow. The aim of this Fixup is to fill the area of a closed path that is colored with a Spot Color.

2. General

The Fixup Fill Closed Path with Spot Color can be used to fill a closed path with a Spot Color. This makes it possible to fill only the area of a Dieline with a Spot Color.

  • entering the name of the Fixup in the Filter area,
  • activating the option Color in the Category area,
  • activating the option Add in the Action area,
  • activating the option White or Shape in the Search area.

3. Description

This Fixup fills the content of a closed path with a Spot Color. The Spot Color is created as a separation. For example, the content of a Dieline can be filled with "white". The hue and opacity of the fill color can also be reduced.

3.1. Requirements and Functionality

For this Fixup to do what it promises, the following requirements must be met:

  • The file contains at least one closed path.
  • The path in the file is already created as a Spot Color.

Select from the following options

  • Templates [1] –  Settings that are selected in the dialog can be saved as a template and thus applied to other Articles/Print Items.

Basic Settings

  • Spot Color Path [2] – select the Spot Color that describes the closed path.
  • Fill Color [3] - determine the Spot Color for the filled path.
  • Tonal Value [4] – by moving the control or entering the percentage the color value of the fill color can be reduced.
  • Opacity [5] – by moving the control or entering the percentage the opacity of the fill color can be reduced.
  • Adjust Size [6] – by entering the desired size, the filled area becomes larger ("+" values) or smaller ("-" values) than the selected path. For the Variable Content [7], select the desired placeholder - database field or user-defined field - from which the value for the size should be retrieved.

Advanced

  • Layer Name [8] – enter the name of the Layer on which the geometric shape to be created is to be created. If you do not want to create your own Layer, remove the name from the input field. For the Variable Content [10], select the desired placeholder - database field or user-defined field - from which the value for the layer name should be retrieved.
  • Conformity of Processing Steps according to ISO 19593-1 [9] – all objects that are printed with white should be created by default according to ISO 19593-1 on the White layer in the White group of the White type. Further information on the ISO standard can be found in the description Processing Steps ISO 15931-1.

3.2. Before/After

To experiment with this function, refer to the sample file "Sample_Fill closed Path.pdf". The file contains a Dieline called "die".
