Updated on

Learn in this article,

  • which requirements must be met for this Fixup and
  • how to apply the Fixup.

1. Introduction

The Fixup Remove Empty Pages is available in the Workflow. The aim of this Fixup is to remove all blank pages from a multi-page file.

2. General

The Fixup Remove Empty Pages can be used to remove empty pages from a file and thus get rid of unnecessary pages within the file.

Find the Fixup in the Data Preparation tab of an Article, Order or Production Job by:

  • entering the name of the Fixup in the Filter area,
  • activating the option Page in the Category area,
  • activating the option Delete in the Action area,
  • activating the option Empty Page in the Search area.

3. Description

This Fixup can be used to delete empty pages that are located anywhere within the file. Thereby, the number of pages in the documents can be minimized and reduced to the essentials.

Pages that have no printable objects within the TrimBox are recognized as blank pages. Registration marks, which are located on a blank page to identify the TrimBox, are ignored and the blank page is recognized as such.

3.1. Requirements and Functionality

For the Fixup to do what it promises, the following requirements must be met:

  • There is at least one blank page within the multi-page print file.
  • Pages on which there are only print marks are also removed.

3.2. Before/After

To experiment with this function, refer to the sample file "Sample_Remove empty pages.pdf". The file consists of four pages. Print Items are on the first and third pages, but the second and fourth pages are empty.

After applying the Fixup, the file "Sample_Remove empty pages_End.pdf" is created. The four-page document has now become a two-page document with the empty pages removed.
