1. Introduction
The Fixup Reinforce White Elements is available in the Workflow. The aim of this Fixup is to enlarge white elements such as lines, vectors or texts by the desired value.
2. General
Use the Fixup Reinforce White Elements to increase the line width (strokes), vectors or text. A use case would be to e.g. slightly reinforce negative text in digital printing. Thereby, it is possible to improve the legibility of small texts and to preserve the text itself.
Find the Fixup in the Data Preparation tab of an Article, Order or Production Job by:
- entering the name of the Fixup in the Filter area,
- activating the option Color in the Category area,
- activating the option Add in the Action area,
- activating the option White or Outline in the Search area.
3. Description
Use this Fixup to enlarge or strengthen white lines, vectors, or text by the desired value. This can improve the legibility of negative text.
3.1. Requirements and Functionality
For the Fixup to do what it promises, the following requirements must be met:
- There are white elements in the file.
- The white elements are created in CMYK (0/0/0/0) or grayscale (0%). RGB or LAB white is not recognized.
The Fixup Reinforce White Elements consists of three individual Fixups that have been combined in one dialog.

The individual Fixups are described in detail below:
3.1.1. Reinforce white Lines
This Fixup is activated by default, which is indicated by the symbol [1]. By activating the Fixup, white lines (strokes) are reinforced by the desired value.
The following options can be selected to reinforce white lines:
- for Line Width less than [4] – enter the line width of the lines that should be reinforced here. For the Variable Content [6], select the desired placeholder - database field or user-defined field - from which the line thickness should be retrieved.
- Set Line Width to [5] – enter the new line width for the lines that were previously found. For the Variable Content [7], select the desired placeholder - database field or user-defined field - from which the line thickness should be retrieved.
3.1.2. Reinforce White Text
Click on the Add icon [2] (Figure 1) to activate the Fixup Reinforce White Text. This Fixups reinforces white text by the entered value.
To reinforce white text, select the following:
- Reinforce White Text [8] - enter the number of points (pt) by which the white text should be reinforced. For the Variable Content [9], select the desired placeholder - database field or user-defined field - from which the reinforcement should be retrieved.

3.1.3. Reinforce White Vectors
Click on the Add icon [3] (Figure 1) to activate the Fixup Reinforce White Vectors. This Fixups reinforces white vector objects by the entered value.
Select from the following options to reinforce white vector objects:
- Reinforce selected white Vectors [10] - enter the number of points (pt) by which white vector objects should be reinforced. For the Variable Content [11], select the desired placeholder - database field or user-defined field - from which the reinforcement should be retrieved.

3.2. Before/After
To experiment with this function, refer to the sample file "Sample_Reinforce White Elements.pdf". The file contains white lines and white text as well as white vectors. The moon in the background was created as a vector object. There is a white line in the central yellow road line. There is a white line of text above the car. All elements were created with CMYK white.
After applying the Fixup, the file "Sample_Reinforce White Elements_End.pdf" is created. All white elements were reinforced here. All three Fixups were activated and the values from Figure 1, Figure 2 and Figure 3 were used.
