1. Introduction
In the Workflow the Fixup Remove Selected Layers is available. The Fixup aims to remove selected layers with the objects that are assigned to this layer and thereby change the appearance of the Print Item.
2. General
The Fixup Remove Selected Layers can be used to e.g. delete all objects on a selected layer. Among other things, this can be used to ensure that only the printed content is visible. Sometimes it is possible to drastically reduce the file size by removing layers.
Find the Fixup in the footer of the Document information and user-defined field area in the Manage Layers Fixup group of an Article, Order or Production Job and in the Data Preparation tab.
3. Fixup Description
This Fixup can be used to delete layers that are in the document along with all objects on them. Deleting layers can also reduce the file size, which can be particularly helpful with very large files. Please note that deleted layers cannot be restored.
3.1. Requirements and Functionality
For this Fixups to do what it promises, the following requirements must be met:
- The Print Item has several Layers
- Individual layers of the Print Item can be made visible or hidden

Click on the selection menu [1] to remove the desired Layer. This Fixups allows you to delete several layers at the same time. To do this, select another Layer from the selection menu.
3.2. Example File
To experiment with this function, refer to the sample file "Layer_Sample.pdf". The sample file contains six layers, two of which are hidden and four that are shown.
After applying the Fixup, the file "Layers_Sample_End3.pdf" is created. In this file, the Layers Technical Drawings, Foreground and Background have been deleted.
