Updated on

Find out in this article,

  • which requirements must be met for this Fixup and
  • how to apply the Fixup.

1. Introduction

The Fixup Delete Output Intent is available in the Workflow. This Fixup aims to remove all output intents that are present in the PDF file and thus to e.g. prepare the file for other purposes.

2. General

Use the Fixup Remove Output Intent to remove existing output intent and thus, for example, prepare a PDF/X or PDF/A file for another purpose. The output intent contains an embedded ICC profile that describes the Color Space that should be simulated for the output.

Find the Fixup in the Data Preparation tab of an Article, Order, or Production Job by

  • entering the name of the Fixup in the Filter area,
  • activating the Page option in the Category area,
  • activating the Delete option in the Action area,
  • activating the Output Intent option in the Search area.

3. Description

This Fixup deletes all output intents that are saved in the PDF file. The output intent must be removed, especially if the file should be used for other purposes. Deleting the output intent can also reduce the file size.

3.1. Requirements and Functionality

For the Fixup to do what it promises, the following requirements must be met:

  • The PDF has an output intent

No further options can be selected.

3.2. Before/After

To experiment with this function, refer to the sample file "PDF_with Output_Intent.pdf". This file was created with PDF/X 4. PSO Coated V3 was stored as the output intent.

After applying the Fixup, the file "PDF without Output_Intent.pdf" is created. Removing the output intent does not normally result in a color shift.
